The vocational training scheme usually has 28 Registrars and is small enough to remain cohesive but large enough that the educational programme can be well planned.

The Yorkshire region offers a wide variety of courses suitable for registrars, including the excellent Summer School.  Five days are devoted to aspects of general practice with sub-schools covering topics of choice.

At present there are 10 General Practice registrar posts attached to the scheme, all providing education centred on the registrar's needs.  They vary in size, location, workload and style but all offer excellent experience.

The hospital posts are mainly based at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton but some posts are available at Darlington Memorial Hospital and James Cook University Hospital.

Part time schemes may be available at the discretion of the Yorkshire Deanery.
