It’s on telephone consultations.  Could those registrars currently in GP posts think about any telephone consultations they have with patients before Thursday 26th Jan, and come prepared to discuss them in small groups? Bringing along a print out of the consultation note would be a good idea. They can be straightforward or challenging consultations – but the latter would be good!

Those working in hospital posts can think about any phone contacts they have – with patients, with seniors asking for advice, with colleagues in other specialties when making or receiving referrals, with nursing staff on the wards, any telephone contact at all. A few brief notes jotted at the time might help to jog them memory when discussing them on Thursday.

And give some thought to any problems or concerns you’ve had with telephone consulting in the past as thease may prompt some discussion.
